Walt Amacher
Photographer (landscapes)
For more than five decades, Walt Amacher has captured the world through the lens of his camera, each shot an indelible mark on the fabric of time.
A seasoned photographer and photojournalist, he spent years immortalizing the rush of road races and the graceful cadence of cycling events across the Pacific Northwest. His work graced the pages of The Oregonian, local running publications and promotional materials that spoke to the pulse of the region’s athletic spirit. He co-founded RaceCenter, a publication that he not only contributed to with his writing and photography but also shaped as its editor.
In the quiet of his retirement, nestled along the rugged coastline of Pacific City, Walt has turned his focus to the natural world, finding new inspiration in the sweeping landscapes and quiet corners of the Oregon Coast. His photographs now serve as windows into that beauty, shared with the community through local outlets like What’s Up Pacific City and various Facebook pages.
Walt's work has taken on new life in the form of postcards, notecards and prints, which he sells at local restaurants, boutiques, and shops—each piece a testament to a lifetime of dedication to his craft.
“I believe a photograph is a frozen fragment of time, preserving a fleeting moment and its memory.”
