Sue Miller
Glass Artist
[NVA Vice President]
Susan Rae Miller (“Sue”) has been dedicated to the art of glasswork for nearly fifty years, exploring and mastering various techniques that showcase the beauty and versatility of glass as a medium. Her artistic journey began with stained glass, where she developed a deep appreciation for color, light, and composition. Over time, her work evolved to include mosaic glass, allowing her to experiment with texture and intricate design.
For the past decade, Sue has primarily focused on fused glass, a process that involves carefully layering and melting glass in a kiln to create dynamic, multi-dimensional pieces. This technique has allowed her to push the boundaries of her craft, blending colors, textures, and transparency in innovative ways.
Inspired by the beauty of the Oregon Coast, Sue has recently begun crafting fused glass sculptures that capture the region’s movement, light, and natural forms. By manipulating glass at various temperatures, she brings depth and vibrancy to her work.
Sue’s passion for glasswork continues to grow as she explores new techniques, always striving to push the limits of what can be achieved with this fascinating medium.
Sue has been the vice president for Nestucca Valley Artisans since 2024.
“Working with glass and a kiln gives me a feeling of excitement of the unknown results of my glass manipulation.”
