Dana Hulburt

Painter (acrylic) & Driftwood Artist
[NVA Secretary]

Dana’s acrylic paintings capture the turbulent beauty and complexity of coastal life, drawing you into the natural splendor of the Pacific Northwest.

A third-generation coastal dweller, Dana’s paintings of the sea reveal how light transforms water. Her wildlife portraits capture the soul in each creature’s gaze.  Her boat studies articulate the living breathing stories of maritime life and its people.

As someone who has long foraged these lands and fished by river and sea, Dana notices diving pelicans, promising berry blossoms, and signs of coming mushroom harvests and then thinks in movement, color and light.  When Dana paints, she sees through eyes that read the authentic language of tide, season and shore.  Each brushstroke translates this earned familiarity and wisdom, and each panel created is uplifted to more than art but rather offers an invitation to immerse in the experience of the coast.

Dana has served as secretary for Nestucca Valley Artisans since April 2025, supporting the local arts community with the same dedication and care she brings to her painting.

I love how I feel when painting! My senses intensify, I’m calm yet excited, and I lose track of time.
