Catherine Hingson

Painter (Acrylic, Oil, Pastel, Watercolor)

Catherine Hingson has been painting since 1989 and teaching art classes regularly since 1992. She is a contemporary artist with an impressionistic style, painting landscapes of the Pacific Northwest.

Hingson began selling her art professionally in 2014 and works today as a full-time artist. Her work can be found in several galleries in Oregon and she participates as an artist vendor in several art shows/ fairs, and a studio tour throughout the year in the Pacific Northwest. Powerful compositions, strong brushwork, and a gorgeous sense of color come together in harmony, making her a truly unique and talented artist.

Catherine has always felt ‘pulled in’ by art. As a child she enjoyed creating and experimenting with materials, and she tries to keep that playful, examining, curious mind when she’s working with the paints – not attached to the outcome, just discovering and finding bliss in the process of allowing herself the freedom to play with the brushes.

In addition to her landscapes, Catherine is currently creating two series of artwork that highlight issues important to her: “Rainbow Series: In Support of the LGBTQ community” and “Undercurrents: Water & Human Interaction”. Catherine states, “It’s a deep compliment and honor when I can create something that resonates with others and makes them question and discover individual messages.”

I’ve always considered painting time my play time, and that’s why I call my business Playful Paintbrush.
