Bill Cary

Bill Cary is an accomplished mixed media artist based in Pacific City, Oregon. Seeking a creative outlet in retirement, he turned to painting and has been refining his skills ever since. Primarily a water media artist, he also incorporates other mediums as needed to best express his artistic vision. Drawing inspiration from direct observation and photographs, he captures seascapes, headlands, coastal forests, rivers, and wildlife. His work ranges from highly representational to impressionistic and abstract, allowing him to explore different interpretations of nature’s dynamic beauty.

Beyond painting, Bill has expanded his creative practice to ceramics, primarily crafting functional stoneware pottery. Whether wheel-thrown or hand-built, his pieces are designed for both aesthetic appeal and everyday use. Just as in his paintings, he experiments with glaze combinations to evoke natural impressions, reflecting the colors and textures of the coastal environment. His unique glazing techniques add depth and character to each piece, ensuring that no two are exactly alike.
